Bio & background

Aaron Rose is an American director, artist, curator, and writer whose commercial and short-form work bridges documentary realism and fashion-lifestyle culture. Represented in the US by The Directors Bureau—and also linked to Rekorder and Iconoclast in Germany—his roster bio notes pieces “often shot on film” that gravitate “toward a stylistic realism, with multimedia elements.” He founded New York’s Alleged Gallery in the early 1990s and co-directed Beautiful Losers, the feature documentary that premiered at SXSW in 2008. Brand credits include short-form work for Levi’s, COS, Comme des Garçons, Nasty Gal, and RVCA; automotive pieces for MINI (Bombonice) and Lincoln (Sound); Clorox’s Ode To The Comode and Absolut’s Night For Change; and corporate touring projects for Nike, Levi’s, Virgin Mobile, and Motorola. Documentary shorts include Become a Microscope (Sister Corita), IFC’s Portraits of Braddock, Pendarvia, and Hamburger Eyes. He co-edited RVCA’s ANP Quarterly, helped stand up Wieden+Kennedy’s WKE content channel as creative director in 2009, and founded the Make Something!! teen arts nonprofit. Recent public work includes the 2023 Blackout Poems book and 2024 Solar Signs collaboration.
