Alex Takács (Young Replicant) is a Toronto-born, Los Angeles-based commercial and music-video director who moved from UCLA graphic design and media art into brand filmmaking. He launched under the Young Replicant moniker around 2010 with videos for Flying Lotus, Lorde, Purity Ring, The xx, and Bonobo, and in 2015 was selected for the 25th Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors’ Showcase at Cannes for Flying Lotus’s “Coronus, The Terminator.” Commercial work through ProdCo includes Vanmoof (“Leave It Anywhere”), Bugaboo USA (captured on 35mm with Sony Rialto and Red Komodo and a Thai crew), Destination Canada (ProdCo x Spy Films), and multi-director campaigns for Nike (“Scary Good – Anthem,” Wieden+Kennedy) and Uber Eats (“Build Your Own Super Bowl Commercial”). The Uber Eats Super Bowl spot brought a shared AICP Best New Director honor in 2026; he is also credited among directors on Nike’s AICP Post-awarded anthem. His design training shapes rigorous pitching and department visual guides, with an explicit aim to make images feel “un-designed” and less contrived. Parallel narrative credits include writing and directing the 2022 feature The Seven Faces of Jane. He is aligned with Spy Films and ProdCo, with literary management via Ari Lubet at 3 Arts Entertainment.
