Amit Mehta is a Los Angeles-based commercial director who builds awkward-and-absurd comedy from character, situation, and emotionally readable performance. He entered directing on a Comcast campaign with Goodby Silverstein & Partners (CD Jamie Barrett) after co-writing the Jeff Bridges feature Scenes of the Crime and assisting Craig Gillespie at MJZ. Evidenced clients include BMW (Super Bowl spots with Chris Pine voiceover; one a TIME Magazine Entertainment best-of), ESPN (directing Chris Pine and Kevin Costner), Volkswagen (2019 VW x Disney Aladdin desert cross-promo for Ogilvy Dubai), Mercedes, Ford, Google, McDonald’s, Hershey’s, Snickers, Tim Hortons, Destination Canada, and Comcast. Signature spots include Hershey’s “Dad Jokes” for Anomaly, cast with a real Deaf father-son pair, and Tim Hortons NHL Trading Cards with Sidney Crosby and Nate MacKinnon. He treats car jobs as comic human stories that still protect product craft. Roster language stresses performance minimalism and what he calls “elevated cinematic realism.” He is currently on Sparks Productions’ roster after FANCY Content (signed 2019), JOJX, and Interrogate. Primary long-form trade record is Shots, SHOOT, and PRODU (2019).
