Angela Kohler is a Los Angeles–based commercial director and photographer whose work folds stop-motion, theatrical set pieces, animation, and dance into art-directed brand stories. She trained in still photography—home darkroom practice and a BFA—then expanded into directing to add music, movement, and dialogue to single-frame worlds. Roster and trade copy frame her signature as art-designed, playful, and colorful, with “whimsical magic” and vibrant staged energy. Evidenced advertiser clients include Amazon, Capitol Records, Lexus, Microsoft, PepsiCo, Target, Verizon, PopSockets, Macy’s, Renault, and CoinTracker. In January 2025 she directed DEPT’s CoinTracker “Free Yourself” package for Bella—character spots “Inspired Climber,” “Eccentric Cowboy,” and “Millennial Dad” plus stills—shot in one day on a color-lit stage at Cherry Soda Studios on Sony FX3 with NiSi Athena Primes, emphasizing stillness, subtle movement, and stylized lighting. PopSockets pieces including “Mount Up” and “Mad Marie” anchor her product side. Recognition centers on Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors Showcase at Cannes Lions, Gen Art (NY/LA), FLUX at the Hammer Museum, Go Short (Nijmegen), Kodak Pocket Fest, Liber Arti, Crested Butte, and Shoot Magazine’s New Directors Showcase / 10 Young Directors to Watch, plus Videography and PhotoCine News features. She appears on Sparks Productions (Canada), with Go East Films covering Asia/Europe/Middle East, direct USA film contact, and Agency Arts for print.
