Bio & background

Avery Stedman is a Canadian director and writer associated with Toronto, signed by Dear Friend for Canadian representation in October 2025 (West Coast Exclusive; Toronto and Vancouver offices). LBBOnline named him among Canada’s brightest rising directors in 2025 and described his cinematic eye and emotionally resonant storytelling. Dear Friend leadership has cited his dual role as writer and creative director who partners with agencies to shape ideas from the ground up. Commercial credits include multiple RBC films: The Putt, a commemorative piece on Nick Taylor’s historic RBC Canadian Open putt that Stedman co-wrote and shaped across 17 scenes, three characters, and two countries in 2.5 days; and The Ideas That Shape Shane (2026). He directed Cash App x Square’s Made-It Pro brand launch, which won Silver in Creative Use of Sound at the 2026 Young Director Award (Off Limit). Other evidenced work spans Mitsubishi’s Drive Your Ambition, TD’s Cerena, Lexus/Discover Lexus ‘The Standard of Amazing’ (Tag WW), HXOUSE’s Sean Brown piece, and the JUNOS50/All Our Sound film Why do we celebrate?. Stedman seeks stories with a visual edge, genre-bending approach, and emotional punch.
