Benjamin Nicolas is a Paris-born, Montreal-based commercial and film director who builds emotionally driven, performance-led work around human connection. Trained as an actor in Paris before moving behind the camera, he is described as an actor's director who unlocks genuine, palpable performances. He is working with Sibling Rivalry in the US, Spy Films in Canada/Global, and KIDS Paris, and founded Skeptic Films. His breakout spot, Long Live Little Brats for Montreal Children's Hospital, earned Bronze Director of the Year at the 2021 shots Awards and helped raise multi-million-dollar support for the foundation. He continued with Max and Lou for the same hospital and, in May 2026, Rady Children's Health's multi-channel brand film For Every Dream They Dare to Dream (A Million Dreams) for SMALL through Sibling Rivalry. Other brand work includes Dermavant, Huawei NOVA, Oscar Carvallo fashion films, Opera de Paris, and Baroudeurs de l'Espoir using a robot arm and probe lens. Parallel practice includes shorts Wanda, Beast, Clio Music winner A Better World (2024), Broken Dreams, and A Quiet Storm (2025), which won Best Documentary and Best Cinematography at Sapporo and played Hot Docs and Camerimage. He moves between handheld 16mm and natural light, cinéma vérité, and lush coverage with sweeping moves, favoring wide lenses, deep focus, and long takes.
