Brandon Loper is a commercial director and documentary filmmaker working with Avocados & Coconuts in San Francisco. Originally from Decatur, Alabama, Loper has spent over a decade cultivating his craft through advertising and documentary storytelling. His debut feature documentary, "A Film About Coffee" (2014), which he directed, wrote, produced, and shot, explored the global culture of specialty coffee. The film screened in over 50 countries worldwide and received a James Beard Award nomination. In July 2017, Loper directed "Still KD: Through the Noise," a 35:35 documentary chronicling NBA star Kevin Durant's journey to his first championship with the Golden State Warriors. Produced by Avocados and Coconuts in collaboration with Nike and agency Must Be Something, the film launched on Nike+ and Kevin Durant's YouTube channel on July 11, 2017. Working closely with DP Jed Jacobsohn, Loper crafted what the trade press described as "an intimate look at KD's seemingly superhuman prowess as a player" with "a gritty undertone and heroic flair." The film was shortlisted for a Cannes Lion. Loper has directed commercial campaigns for Nike, Google, Athleta, Hipcamp, Starbucks, Comcast, Black & Veatch, and The Weather Channel. His representation at Avocados & Coconuts describes his directing style as "honest, humble and conversational," rooted in his southern background.
