Chris Balmond is a UK-based commercial director working with Arts & Sciences in the US and UK since October 2025. His career began at Red Bee Media, the BBC's in-house creative team, where he directed promos for The Thick of It, Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe, Graham Norton, The Mighty Boosh, and Horrible Histories. He gained momentum with viral campaigns for PG Tips and BBC Sport's Six Nations Rugby, the latter famously banned for mocking the England Team. His PG Tips work earned Gold at the 2009 British Television Advertising Awards. Balmond has directed for global clients including Amazon, Guinness, McDonald's, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Delta, and Uber Eats, alongside beloved UK and Irish brands such as Hunky Dorys, Paddy Power, Peperami, and Aldi. Named one of Campaign's Top 10 Directors in 2021, his work has been recognized by Cannes Lions, Clio Awards, Shark Awards, LIAs, BTAAs, and ADC. His films range from cinematic narrative pieces to absurd comedy, always anchored by casting and performance, blending practical and visual effects to create memorable tableaus grounded in naturalistic performances from actors and non-actors alike.
