Daniel Sheppard is a comedy-forward commercial director with roughly two decades in advertising. He began writing and directing on the agency side in Nebraska, New York City, and Los Angeles before moving fully behind the camera. Trade coverage frames him around dry, performance-minded comedy: Partners Film cited “clever, dry comedic performance direction,” and Superlounge’s Jordan Brady called his humour “dry and subtle, even when the idea is way out there,” with comedic performances “on the pulse of today's humour.” In August 2023, New York’s Identity signed him after nearly fifteen years of directing, citing often-humorous work for Hershey’s, LG, Sprint, Little Caesars, and VH1. His craft notes stress pushing production design so ordinary locations still feel “familiar, but stylised,” and mining scripts for “the weirdness” that becomes an “unexpected twist.” In 2015 he launched the one-time Dannes Lions, a semi-real comedy-in-advertising send-up of Cannes for which he produced more than a hundred trophies. Canadian representation at Partners Film (Toronto) was announced in 2017 with clients including Advil, Boston Pizza, Wendy’s, Canadian Tire, Walmart, and Ford; earlier Superlounge work included a Missouri Lottery spot for Barkley. Additional credits include Jolly Rancher, Better Oats, CrunchCup, and VH1.
