Grant Sputore is an Australian commercial and feature director who studied film at Curtin University and founded Perth production company The Penguin Empire. His commercials have been recognized at D&AD, Cannes Lions, Clios, Spikes Asia, AWARD, London International, New York Festivals, and PADC, including back-to-back Commercial Director of the Year honors in Perth. Key decorated spots include Alcoholics Anonymous’ “Questions Campaign” (AWARD finalist; Campaign Brief Best of 2011), South Australian Government/DTEI Safety’s “Horsepower” (AWARD Best Director finalist, 2012), and St John Ambulance’s “Break the Barrier” (2014 Mumbrella TV Campaign of the Year; Bronze Clio; Spikes Asia and London International metals; Cannes Lions Film Craft: Direction finalist). Brand clients also include University of Western Australia (“Pursue Impossible”), Toyota (including “Woven City”), Allianz (“Swim Club”), iiNet, and UOB. Roster and trade language centers on cinematic visuals, authentic performances, and seamless VFX. He directed the 2019 Sundance/Netflix feature I Am Mother (two AACTA nominations) and was announced in June 2024 to direct Legendary’s Godzilla x Kong: Supernova.
