Bio & background

Gustavo Taretto is a Buenos Aires–born writer and director (b. 1965) active in Argentine advertising since 1993 and rostered with Primo Content for LATAM commercials. Documented director credits include OLX “OeLeXeable” (Primo) and McDonald’s “Factory.” Advertising recognition includes a Golden Lion in 2002 and a One Show Merit listing connected to Gatic SA. He is internationally known for Sidewalls (Medianeras): the 2005 short won more than forty festival awards before expansion into the 2011 feature, a romantic comedy-drama about two slightly damaged neighbors in Buenos Aires who fail to connect. The film premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, includes a Manhattan homage, and is discussed for its portrait of urban loneliness and architecture. Further narrative work includes the short Hoy no estoy (2007), feature Sunstrokes (2014), and the 2022 series Amsterdam (ten episodes as director and writer). IMDb lists twelve wins and multiple nominations. Commentary on Sidewalls notes a gentle rhythm that balances melancholy with dry humor. Commercial case studies remain limited in major trade databases relative to his festival profile.
