Henry Joost and Ariel “Rel” Schulman are the New York directing duo Henry & Rel, co-founders of Supermarché (2007) and represented in the U.S. by Moxie Pictures. They broke out with the Sundance documentary Catfish, which led to the MTV series they executive produce, and directed Paranormal Activity franchise installments, Nerve, Viral, Netflix’s Project Power (Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, 2020), and Paramount+/Jerry Bruckheimer’s Secret Headquarters (Owen Wilson, Michael Peña, 2022). Commercial clients include Gucci, Chanel, Google, T-Mobile, Vogue, AB InBev, Nike, Facebook, Harry’s, Prudential, and the New York Knicks. Google Chrome’s Dear Sophie was named Time magazine’s Best Commercial of the Year in 2011. Gucci story films—Who is Sabato De Sarno? A Gucci Story (Paul Mescal narration; AICP Post Best of Show 2024) and The Gucci Savoy Duffle: A Gucci Story (AICP Post Award)—extend documentary portraiture into fashion. Other work includes Chanel Winter Tale and Holiday 2024, Vogue films with Margot Robbie and Elle Fanning, Google Express, AB InBev’s Cheers to Bars, T-Mobile x Google Get Lost, LACMA’s A Brief History of John Baldessari (Tom Waits), and the Knicks’ NY Forever opener. Craft roots in pocket-camera vérité and interview-led storytelling carry into polished brand and fashion films.
