Joe Otting is a Chicago-based film and commercial director and DGA member. He began as a production manager at BBDO before launching OGO Films. He has directed for Home Depot, Craftsman, Lenovo ThinkPad, Hilton, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Bayer, Whiskey Acres, Ford Foundation, Elevance Health, CVS, Jewel-Osco, Sears, Illinois Lottery, Corona Hard Seltzer, and others. In 2021 he directed Whiskey Acres’ Bottled-in-Bond campaign—the lyrical two-minute “Chasing Greatness” and fast-paced :30 “Not Out Here”—shot with a three-person crew across a week of harvest and distilling, pairing sweeping farm landscapes with macro process detail. Recent credits include Elevance Health via HIVE Content Studio, CVS, a Jewel-Osco regional Super Bowl spot, Ford Foundation’s “Working Mom,” Craftsman’s “Legacy,” and Lenovo ThinkPad spots. Commercial work has earned a Gold Hugo for branded content. Film credits include HBO Project Greenlight runner-up “Asylum,” Cannes Kodak Selection “The Third Rail,” EW/Loews winner “Vows,” Vimeo Staff Pick “The Talk,” Sony’s “Already Dead” with Christopher Plummer, and Showtime’s “Under New Management.” Ben Affleck noted Otting “understands that actors are performing when they’re not saying lines” and has “a really sophisticated understanding of moving the camera.” He is repped by Accomplice Media for U.S. commercials, Sparks Productions in Canada, and Allen Fischer at Artists First for features.
