Jordan Canning is a Canadian film and television director who entered commercials in 2023 through Steam Films (Toronto and Vancouver). Her first major brand spot was Crispy Minis’ “Astronaut Interview,” a bilingual English/French comedy led by Annie Murphy—with whom she had already worked on Schitt’s Creek—built around elevated, slightly crazed energy and the catchphrase “That’s Crispy”/“C’est Croustillant!” She later returned to Steam for Sparkling Ice work at The Flavor Lab. Before advertising she directed extensively in scripted comedy and drama: Schitt’s Creek, Baroness Von Sketch Show, Fraggle Rock, The Big Door Prize, Oddly Flowers, Saving Hope, Pretty Hard Cases, Nurses, Burden of Truth, The Detail, This Hour Has 22 Minutes, and all 23 episodes of the CTV digital series Space Riders: Division Earth. She has directed multiple Star Trek: Strange New Worlds episodes, including “Charades,” “Wedding Bell Blues,” and “Four-and-a-Half Vulcans.” Feature credits include We Were Wolves (2014, co-writer), Suck It Up (2017), and Ordinary Days; with animator Howie Shia she made the NFB short 4 North A, which premiered at TIFF. A 2010 CFC Director’s Lab graduate, she is consistently cited for comedy-performance instincts and actor shorthand now applied to short-form brand work.
