Kevin Thomas is an Emmy-winning commercial director who splits time between the U.K. and New York. He began as an agency creative—Art Director at AMV BBDO, Head of Art at Lowe, Creative Director at M&C Saatchi—before turning to directing around 1998. After brief stints at Blink and Godman he co-founded Thomas Thomas Films with Philippa Thomas in 2000, running it more than two decades and opening a New York office in 2006. Brand work for Citibank, Apple, Google, Amazon, Nike, Adidas, BMW, PlayStation, Virgin Airlines, American Express, Verizon, Barclaycard, Indeed, Walkers and others pairs comic timing with performance-led storytelling and strong art direction. He directed Fallon’s Citibank identity-theft “ID Lip Synch” campaign, including “Outfit,” which won the 2004 Primetime commercial Emmy and Adweek Campaign of the Year, and has worked with Uma Thurman, Ray Winstone, Anna Friel, Julie Walters, Lennox Lewis, Tony Hawk, Gary Lineker and Mitchell & Webb. Recognition includes Cannes Lions, D&AD Pencils, British Arrows, the Charles Saatchi award, and a 2011 Shots Top Ten Commercial Directors of the Decade listing. He wrote and directed The Wayback, a VR series for people living with dementia (D&AD, AICP; SXSW; BFI archive), plus Oscar-qualified short True Love (Once Removed). As of 2022–2023 he is repped in the U.S. by Moxie Pictures and in the U.K. by Merman.
