Bio & background

Lizzy Born is a Los Angeles- and New York-based commercial and branded-content director who joined World War Seven in 2023 after freelancing. Her advertising work centers on fashion, luxury, beauty, and comedy. In 2024 she directed Maybelline New York’s first comedic campaign, “Ma’am,” starring Mindy Kaling for Instant Eraser Treatment Makeup—a blend of scripted comedy and natural product shots focused on functionality, movement, and feeling. She has also directed St. Germain with Sophie Turner in the South of France; wrote and directed a Grey Goose x Vogue holiday film starring Alexandra Daddario; and made films for Kiehl’s, Dolce & Gabbana, Bvlgari, Sony, Lexus, Macy’s, and American Girl Dolls. Her first professional commercial was Dolce & Gabbana’s “Miss Sicily,” shot on location in Sicily with cinematographer Kevin Phillips. In 2019 she directed a short documentary for the New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala at Lincoln Center on collaborations with designers including Anna Sui and Zac Posen. Outside advertising she directed the full first season of A24/Showtime’s variety series Ziwe (2021), Comedy Central’s Girl Kyle, and Snapchat’s Everything’s Fine. Her shorts premiered at Sundance, SXSW, and Cannes; Hip Hip Hooray (2015) won festival recognition and Vimeo Staff Picks.
