Malik Vitthal is an LA-born commercial director working with The Corner Shop in the US and UK since April 2016, following the Sundance Audience Award win for his feature debut Imperial Dreams (2014), starring John Boyega. In advertising he is known for emotionally direct, socially resonant brand film. His defining credit is Procter & Gamble’s “The Talk” (2017), a multi-scene film of parents preparing children for hard real-world conversations; it won the Cannes Lions Grand Prix in Film, a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Commercial, and AICP recognition for direction. He also directed Boost Mobile’s “Boost Your Voice” (2016), a Gold Clio winner in Branded Content (2018), and Cricket Wireless’s Dieste-led “Strength in Numbers” HBCU campaign. Later roster work includes Vanguard’s “Tu Mama” and “Value of Ownership” (2022) with Virtue and a52 VFX, and a Google Photos piece built around NBA star Stephen Curry. Corner Shop roster copy stresses authenticity and characters that land, aligning with a truth-driven, performance- and dialogue-forward approach. Feature work including Body Cam (2020) and a segment of The Year of the Everlasting Storm (2021) reinforces a dramatic, character-centered sensibility. He has served on faculty for VCFA’s MFA in Film.
