Martin de Thurah is a Danish director, cinematographer, and screenwriter whose work bridges fine art sensibilities with commercial craft. A graduate of the National Danish Film School (2002) and a former painter and photographer, de Thurah has directed award-winning campaigns for Under Armour, Nike, Levi's, Cartier, IKEA, and Facebook. His 2016 Under Armour "Phelps" film won the Cannes Lions Grand Prix for Craft and contributed to back-to-back Directors Guild of America Awards for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials (2014, 2017). Recent work includes Levi's "Fair Exchange" (2x Silver Lions, Cannes 2023), Wealthsimple "Sluggish" (2x Silver + Bronze, Ciclope 2025), Nike "Greatness" (Shots Gold 2025), and a Super Bowl LX spot for Liquid I.V. (2026) shot with longtime collaborator Kasper Tuxen. He has earned 35 D&AD awards, a Yellow Pencil for Direction, and recognition from the UK Music Video Awards, Robert Awards, and AICP. His music video work includes collaborations with James Blake, Fever Ray, Kanye West, and David Byrne & St. Vincent. De Thurah's short film "Young Man Falling" screened at Cannes Critics' Week (2007). He is working with Epoch Films (US/UK), CZAR (BE/NL/FR/DE), Bacon Production, and Landia.
