Melissa Bolton-Klinger is a DGA commercial and branded-content director specializing in celebrity-fluent comedy. After early work at MTV, improv training at The Groundlings, and a run as Group Creative Director at Paramount on star-driven movie marketing, she shifted fully into commercial directing. She won a Grand Clio for work with the cast of Reno 911. In October 2024 she joined Honor Society for U.S. commercials and branded content after Slim, and in September 2025 signed with Sparks Productions for exclusive representation in Canada. Signature recent spots include Marshalls with Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, run like a live improv show under a brief not to look like a commercial; Maybelline’s 2025 “Primer Donnas” faux-reality primer campaign with Ariana Madix and JaNa Craig; a viral Maybelline + TikTok campaign; and Coffee Mate branded content with Vince Staples that sat between a renovation show and character-driven comedy, including an Office Space copier-destruction homage. Other evidenced brand work covers Burger King with Snoop, Cheetos with Drew Barrymore, Milka with Katy Perry, Ad Council PSAs, Audi, Liquid Plumber, McDonald’s, and Sony. She shoots the script then captures improvised additional bits for the edit, and handles multi-stakeholder productions with celebrities, influencers, animals, VFX, and stunts when A-list windows are tight.
