Mollie Mills is a British director and photographer whose self-taught career began at 18 when she won Nike's Best Young Filmmaker competition. Raised between a Hackney council estate and 90s acid house festival circuits, Mills dropped out of school at 15 and started documenting London's youth subcultures with a £100 handycam. Her breakout documentary 'Vogue, Detroit' explored queer subculture with intimate compassion, establishing her signature approach to marginalized communities. Selected for the 2017 Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors' Showcase at Cannes Lions and named to the Dazed 100, Mills has directed campaigns for Spotify, On Running, Starbucks, adidas, Stella McCartney, Nike, British Airways, Coca-Cola, and Pinterest. She helmed a Tonal Super Bowl spot starring Serena Williams and Athleta's Olympic campaign 'The Power of She' featuring Simone Biles. Her work has earned three gold CLIO awards including for the Grammy Awards PSA '2%' addressing gender disparity among music producers, plus a Grand Clio for Stella McCartney's 'All Is Love' starring Idris Elba. Mills directs music videos for Lucky Daye, Romy, and others, and created PITKISSER, a two-channel installation exploring LA's 'girl mosh' subculture. working with Somesuch in the US and UK, she is developing her first feature while continuing to platform underrepresented voices.
