Bio & background

Nathan Price is a New Zealand-born director working with Park Pictures in the US and UK, Good Oil in Australia and New Zealand, and Control Films in France. He co-founded the production company Ruskin in New Zealand with producer Claris Harvey. Price's career began in visual effects, where he led Oktobor post-production from 4 to 24 staff and contributed shots to Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy. He has directed campaigns for Erste Bank (Face Your Fears, Unstoppable, The Goal, BMX Girl), E*Trade (The Duel), Honda (Dream Run), Samsung (Coliseum for Curved Screen), Royal London (Ye Olde Pensions, Goode Times & Bad), State Insurance (Break My Stride), BNZ (The Dancer), Mercury (Say Goodbye, Electric Revolution), Sky (Come With Us), Hulu (Commercial Free), Waka Kotahi/NZ Transport Agency (Through My Eyes road safety campaign), and the Ad Council/NHTSA (Never Happens campaign). His work has won at Cannes Lions, the One Show, and Clio Awards. He has also directed television drama, winning the Directors Guild Drama Directing Prize for The Insider's Guide to Love and the Qantas NZ Film and Television Award for The Hothouse. In 2023, he directed the feature documentary The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*CK. Campaign Brief ranked him among the top ten directors in Asian/Australasia. A competitive improvisational comedy champion in high school, Price applies improv principles to his performance-driven commercial work.
