Nick Piper is a UK-born commercial director whose path runs from an Oxford applied-mathematics degree and Chamonix ski films through Flame and VFX direction at MPC in London and Los Angeles. That foundation produced a Gold Lion for VFX on a Super Bowl spot and on-air explanation of effects on a multi-award-winning Pepsi commercial. He first signed with Backyard Productions in 2002, rejoined after a B-Reel stint around 2011–12, and returned for U.S. representation in August 2022; trade coverage also places him with Spears & Arrows, Great Guns, and The Partners Film Company in Canada, and he is a creative partner at Santa Monica VFX house Chemical Effects. His portfolio is strongest in automotive launches for Ford, Range Rover, Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, Toyota, Nissan, and Hyundai—including the Ford Raptor global reveal that launched the truck from a military cargo plane, the Range Rover Sport long-form film with James Corden, and Ford’s all-electric Explorer keynote integrating live action with Full CGI and Unreal Engine. Broader brand work includes Google, Goodyear, McDonald’s, Coors, Home Depot, Budweiser, P&G, Lysol, Behr, Kawasaki, Rust-Oleum, and Toro. Craft signatures include Rust-Oleum NeverWet’s macro-lens 1000–1500 fps liquid study and Toro’s “Slant House,” blending honest performances with a photo-real effect.
