Bio & background

Noël Loozen is an Amsterdam-based director, photographer and writer whose commercials grow out of festival fiction about little worlds and everyday clumsiness. Trained in fine-art photography at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and in film at the Netherlands Film Academy—and a former assistant to Viviane Sassen—he entered advertising through HALAL, later Stink Rising, and is now repped by Sanctuary Films (US), 100% (Netherlands) and Kaiserschnitt Film (DACH). Signature shorts set the tone buyers still recognize: Spoetnik premiered at Berlinale, won Best European Short Fiction at Go Short and became a Vimeo Staff Pick and Short of the Week; The Hornhunter landed on Nowness; Botanica and Limburgia competed at the Dutch Film Festival. The same simple, stage-like frames and discreet irony, usually with DOP Tim Kerbosch, shape mold-breaking European brand films for Odido (Bobbie, Glasvezel, Klik & Klaar, Google Gemini), Rabobank, Museumkaart, Bols Genever, IKEA, Zalando, bol.com, GLS, Das Handwerk, De Correspondent, Webull, Google and Vienna Tourist Board’s casting-led grumpy-comedy “Karl Isn’t Happy” (Jung von Matt Donau). He also directs children’s series Moonriders (Cinekid and Best Dutch Series nominations) and is advancing tragicomic feature Toutes Directions for Dutch cinemas in autumn 2026. Berlinale Talents 2020.
