Peter Atencio is an Emmy- and Peabody-winning director of film, television, and commercials based between Los Angeles and London. He directed virtually every episode of Comedy Central’s Key & Peele, work that earned a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series, further Emmy nominations, a Peabody Award, and an American Comedy Award. In advertising he broke through with Pepsi Max’s Jeff Gordon “Test Drive” and “Test Drive 2” campaign—a disguised-driver prank and high-speed chase (Gifted Youth) that drew tens of millions of views and collected Clios, a One Show Pencil, and an AICP honor—plus Super Bowl-window Pepsi Next executions. Additional credits include Xfinity, Mountain Dew (Call of Duty: Black Ops 3), Taco Bell, Twitter, Honda, Tomcat’s “Trebuchet” stunt, Lays, Canary, and an Ore-Ida campaign starring Keegan-Michael Key. RSA Films signed him for U.S. commercials in 2019 (also rostered UK). RSA’s David Mitchell cited his command of huge stunt pieces or massive special effects alongside two-hander comedy on a white cyc. He pairs meticulous prep with on-set improv and a relaxed atmosphere for comic performances; film/TV representation is UTA, with management by Peter Principato.
