Saad Moosajee is a New York–based director and artist working across live-action, motion design, animation, and art-directed visual worlds. A RISD BFA graduate who early on worked in design at Sagmeister, he brings an illustration-first process to filmmaking, often building scenes as style frames and concept art before they are shot. His highest-profile commercial credit is Mercedes-Maybach’s ‘Welcome to Beyond’ (May 2024), a Tempomedia and SMUGGLER co-production for agency Antoni/Berlin. The film uses an LED volume stage, physical sets, and post house Analog to move a full gamut of Maybach vehicles—including a Virgil Abloh concept car and the Vision 6—through sequential, dream-like environments, fusing real-time virtual cameras with classic film technique. Outside automotive, his directed body of work is heavily music-driven: Sampha’s ‘Can’t Go Back’ (2023, SMUGGLER), Thom Yorke’s ‘Last I Heard…’, Woodkid’s ‘Reactor’, Joji/Nectar-era mocap and design-led videos, Lil Nas X creative direction and animation for Montero and tour, and Wu-Tang Clan tour visuals. Trade coverage frames a graphic-cinematic hybrid and abstract, sensory storytelling; he has cited classical surrealists Chirico, Ernst, and Dalí as influences.
