Bio & background

Sam Hughes is a Toronto-based commercial director on the Skin & Bones Film roster who advanced internally from treatment designer and image puller. He followed jobs from brief through post across the company’s directors before stepping into directing. Evidenced brand credits include KFC’s “Moving Day” (a Canadian Moving Day finger-lickin’ injury-claims comedy covered by LBB in June 2024) and “Chicken Tax,” Rogers’ “Late Night Essay,” Eastroom x Forno Cultura, Linny’s, Bather’s short “The Pool Hoppers” (Skin and Bones; EPs Liane Thomas and Joan Bell), Fat Rabbit Episode 2, a STEAK! spot (DP Ben Roberts), and work for Humber River Health Foundation. Earlier footing includes 2020 visual treatment design on multiple TV/web spots for Skin and Bones and a 2015 editorial internship at Saints Editorial. No director-level Cannes, Clio, D&AD, or AICP awards are evidenced. Public craft interviews with camera, stock, or lighting detail are absent; the through-line is comedy-capable QSR and branded lifestyle work built on a treatment-first apprenticeship. He remains working with Skin and Bones in Toronto.
