Bio & background

Sasie Sealy is a New York City-based writer and director whose commercial practice centers on beauty and fashion for Maybelline, Calvin Klein, Urban Decay, Matrix, Tresemmé, Suave, Sally Hansen, Condé Nast, and Tory Burch, with work featured in Vogue, Glamour, Style.com, Refinery29, Teen Vogue, Variety, and SHOOT. She directed Tinder’s interactive Swipe Night: Killer Weekend (2021), the return of the platform’s Cannes-associated narrative experience. Debut feature Lucky Grandma premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival after the AT&T/Tribeca Untold Stories $1M grant, earned New York Times “9 Filmmakers Who Should Be on Your Radar” recognition, and landed on multiple Best of 2020 lists. Episodic credits include six episodes of Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street (first DGA nomination), Fresh Off the Boat, The Kicks, and An American Girl Story: Ivy & Julie (WGA Award; four Daytime Emmy nominations). Shorts Dance Mania Fantastic and The Elephant Garden twice won Tribeca filmmaking prizes. Craft roots include photography study with Gregory Crewdson and sketch comedy with The Fifth Humour. As of October 2024 she is repped in the U.S. by Honor Society for commercials and branded content, with Sparks Productions covering Canada.
