Bio & background

Sindha Agha is a BAFTA-winning, Emmy-nominated director and writer based in Los Angeles, commercially represented in the US and UK by The Corner Shop. She broke through with the New York Times Op-Doc Birth Control Your Own Adventure (2018), an Emmy-nominated piece that used comedy and surreal imagery to examine endometriosis and contraceptive trade-offs. For BBC Three she directed multiple seasons of Body Language (with Prettybird), pairing first-person monologues on reproductive and mental health with stop-motion, collage, painting, and conceptual imagery. Her Channel 4 short-form comedy anthology How to Be a Person won a BAFTA; she also wrote and co-executive produced the Emmy-nominated Netflix series The Principles of Pleasure. In branded work she has directed for Instagram, Facebook Marketplace and Facebook Shop (Eventual Vibes with Fallon), MTV (The Waves, the 2023 Women’s History Month short on the medical Pain Gap), the National Network of Abortion Funds (the post-Roe parody Eff Urself), and UN Women UK (Bystander). Trade coverage frames her commercial voice as punk comedy—satirical, playful, and emotionally direct. Craft signatures include a colourful aesthetic melding collage, stop-motion, and conceptual imagery. Recognition includes a Cannes Lions Gold Young Director Award, ADC Young Guns, Tribeca X Best Episodic, dual Sundance fellowships, and an AFI DWW+ fellowship.
