Tamara Kotevska is a North Macedonian director and writer whose international profile rests on observational documentary and hybrid features. She co-directed Honeyland (2019) with Ljubomir Stefanov; the film won the Sundance World Cinema Documentary award and earned dual Academy Award nominations for Best Documentary Feature and Best International Feature. Her National Geographic Documentary Films title The Tale of Silyan (2025), shot with frequent collaborator Jean Dakar, follows a farmer’s bond with an injured white stork amid rural economic and climate pressures and North Macedonian folklore. It took the Venice/TIFF path, won IDA Best Feature Documentary and Best Cinematography, earned the Cinema Eye Audience Choice Award, and was North Macedonia’s international feature Oscar submission.
