Bio & background

The Sacred Egg is a directing duo composed of Ed Kaye (London) and Alex Mavor (Lisbon), collaborating since 2007. Originally advertising creatives at VCCP London—Kaye as Art Director, Mavor as Copywriter—they transitioned to directing with a conceptual rigor honed from generating dozens of ideas to distill one exceptional concept. Their breakthrough came in 2017 with two landmark campaigns: Finish "Combinations" (Wieden+Kennedy London) and MailChimp "Did You Mean Mailchimp" (Droga5 New York), the latter winning a Cannes Lions Grand Prix. The MailChimp work—three surreal films titled "JailBlimp," "KaleLimp," and "MailShrimp"—shot in a Prague conference center with strict color palettes inspired by North Korean ballerinas, exemplifies their approach: non-rational storytelling that coheres into a distinct brand universe. Since then, they have directed for Apple ("Chocolate" for Apple Card, iPad Mini, iPhone 17e), Smirnoff ("We Do Atomic"), Burger King ("WE GIVE UP"), Kaiser Permanente (stop-frame animation via Open The Portal), EA Skate ("Drop In" on 16mm and digital via Uncommon Creative Studio), Postmates ("Burger," D&AD Pencil), IKEA, Reebok, easyJet (Gold Kinsale Shark), Samsung, BT, TopGolf, and B&Q. They served as Second Unit Directors on Bohemian Rhapsody (2018, $200M+ gross) and have won 13 British Arrows, 6 Creative Circle awards, and 3 Kinsale Sharks. Their music videos—including Royal Blood's "Lights Out" (Best Rock Video, UK Music Video Awards 2017) and work for Depeche Mode, Arcade Fire, and CamelPhat—have garnered over 50 million views and screened at the British Film Institute and Pompidou Centre. working with Riff Raff Films (US/UK) and Akkurat.tv, The Sacred Egg crafts visually captivating, conceptually disruptive work across live-action, animation, and hybrid formats.
