Thomas Van Kristen is a Berlin-based director and photographer whose commercials sit at the intersection of sport, automotive, and fashion. Raised in the Austrian Alps, he moved from mountain landscape photography into a cinematic commercial practice described in his Stink Films biography by “rich tones, moody shadows, and stories that stick.” Common People Films signed him for UK representation in July 2024 after Chelsea FC’s ‘We Burn Blue’ home-kit film with Uncommon Creative Studio, featuring first-team players including Cole Palmer and Sam Kerr, with sound work by Joy Orbison; the spot was longlisted in OnePointFour’s Commercial category. In January 2025 he directed Atomic’s ‘Find Your Horizon’ backcountry-skiing film (Shots), a nature-bonded athlete piece with Supercontinent VFX and detailed wind-and-snow sound design. Other dated work includes On Running x 032c LightSpray, Big 12 Conference’s ‘A Different League’ college-football campaign (Adweek/Translation), and Suvree watchmaking craft films, plus automotive projects for Bentley Flying Spur, Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Porsche Design, BMW, Audi, WEY, and Land Rover. Sports and fashion-sport credits include Nike (Solebox Air Max 97 ‘Silver Bullet’), adidas, Puma & BSTN (Dennis Schröder), Oakley, and Bershka x NBA. He is rostered with Stink Films, Common People, Bonaparte, and Modest Dept, and is repeatedly noted for dual stills-and-film delivery and technically demanding shoots, including LED-volume stage work in Munich.
