Watta Fernández is an Argentine commercial director known for emotionally resonant storytelling and strong actor direction, rooted in his dual background as an architect and cinematographer. After studying architecture in Buenos Aires, he enrolled at Argentina's Escuela Nacional de Experimentación y Realización Cinematografica in 2003, graduating as a filmmaker. He entered advertising in 2006 as a director's assistant before directing his own spots in 2009, winning the Lapiz de Oro for "Daltónico." His 2012 breakthrough came with "Argentinos" for TyC Sports, which earned best commercial honors at Ibero America, two Ojos de Oro, a platinum Lapiz de Oro, a Diente de Oro, gold at Brazil's Wave Festival, and gold at the New York Festival. In 2011, he won an Achap award in Chile plus four golds and a Grand Prix for Entel and Cerveza Cristal campaigns, earning Director of the Year honors in Chile. His client roster includes Coca-Cola, Cerveza Quilmes, Danone, Sony, TyC Sports, Entel, Cerveza Cristal, Doritos, Ruffles, and YPF. Fernández cites Brian De Palma, Hitchcock, Carpenter, Spielberg, and Nolan as influences, describing his approach: "I love directing actors... the acting—whether it's humor or emotion—is my strength."
