William Stefan Smith is a BAFTA-winning writer-director who joined Biscuit Filmworks for US and UK commercial representation in July 2024—his first advertising roster. Early brand work includes multiple Sprite films (Always Obey / Lock In; School of Obeydience) with NBA talent Kevin Garnett and Anthony Edwards; a direct-to-brand adidas film with Top Boy’s Kano; Uber’s Super Bowl teaser “Diner Menu” (Special Group / Biscuit); and Uber Eats Super Bowl creative featuring Matthew McConaughey and Amelia Dimoldenberg. Adweek named him to its 2026 Creative 100 directors class, citing standup timing, working-class sensibility, and ease with talent. In longform he directed Channel 4’s On The Edge film BBW (two BAFTA nominations), was lead director on season two of Armando Iannucci’s HBO/Sky comedy Avenue 5, won a 2023 BAFTA for Netflix’s Top Boy and returned for the final series as the show took Best Drama Series in 2024, and served as lead director and EP of Netflix’s The Vince Staples Show. He directed the Film4 short Two Single Beds with Daniel Kaluuya. Earlier credits include BBC Radio 1/1Xtra producing (Sony Radio Award), an NYU Tisch MFA, the Hollywood Foreign Press Award for Hostess, back-to-back BAFTA LA scholarships, and the Lora Hays Award for Documentary Editing.
