Yorgos Lanthimos is a Greek filmmaker and theater director working with Superprime Films for US commercial work since September 2018. His feature films have earned six personal Academy Award nominations across Best Director and Best Original Screenplay categories, with his films winning five Oscars total. He directed Oscar-winning performances by Olivia Colman in "The Favourite" (2018) and Emma Stone in "Poor Things" (2023). His commercial portfolio includes campaigns for Gucci ("Of Course a Horse," 2020), Prada ("Ritual Identities," 2025, starring Scarlett Johansson), TENA ("Ageless," 2020), Squarespace ("Unavailable," 2026 Super Bowl spot with Emma Stone), and Grubhub ("The Feest," 2026, starring George Clooney). Lanthimos won the Cannes Jury Prize for "The Lobster" (2015), Best Screenplay at Cannes for "The Killing of a Sacred Deer" (2017), and the Golden Lion at Venice for "Poor Things" (2023). His directorial style is characterized by uniquely framed cinematography, deadpan performances, stilted dialogue, and absurdist dark comedy. He studied directing at Stavrakos Film School in Athens and was part of the creative team for the 2004 Athens Olympics ceremonies. He has directed music videos for Radiohead and multiple Greek pop artists, and maintains an active theater practice.
