Zhang & Knight are a London-based directing duo known for vivid, dreamlike films with rich textures, painterly color and light, and emotionally resonant world-building. They won Best New Director at the UK Music Video Awards in 2018 and Best New Director (International) at the Kinsale Shark Awards in 2019. Their music videos for EDEN, Arlo Parks, and London Grammar earned multiple D&AD, Creative Circle, and Ciclope awards for production design and cinematography. In commercial work, they have directed automotive campaigns for Mercedes-Benz (CLE Cabriolet, V-Class, AMG), BMW (XM), Maserati (MC20), and Hertz, alongside Hawaiian Airlines and AXA Asia. Their 2023 PSA for Stonewall, "Ban Conversion Therapy Now," earned two British Arrow awards, three Creative Circle Silver awards, and was named Campaign Ad of the Day. Their debut narrative short film, "A Bear Remembers" (2025), premiered at Clermont-Ferrand where it won Best European Film and the Canal+ International Award, then won the Jury Prize for Best Drama at Aspen Shortsfest and the Grand Jury Prize at Edmonton International Film Festival (both Oscar-qualifying). Zhang & Knight are working with Academy Films in the UK and USA, BWGTBLD in Germany, Birth Productions in France, Grayskull in Spain, and 815 Video in Korea. They are currently developing a feature film set in the same mythic universe as "A Bear Remembers."
